I can't believe I'm gonna say this but... I missed the meat in this
Split Pea Soup. Crap. I feel terrible for saying that. Do you think it heard me? Sorry, soup.
Maybe next time I will add some fake meat delight to the mix. It was an edible blend of ingredients however, and fairly simple to make. Split peas, onion, garlic, celery, carrot, potato, and a little parsley on top. Not super beautiful to photograph, but honest to goodness soup that filled me up on a drizzly April evening.
I love your honesty! I grew up on split pea with ham, and can also say that vegetarian split pea seems to lack something. That's a great idea about fake meat. Must try it sometime :)
ReplyDeleteI will gladly pass along the recipe, my dear. Split peas are inexpensive and filling! Yum!
ReplyDeleteI love this Split Pea soup and I don't miss the meat at all - and I eat meat! I found that the original version of the recipe makes WAY better soup than the revised later version. My favorite Split Pea Soup.
