Nobody here but us servantless American cooks...

The book: The New Moosewood Cookbook by Mollie Katzen. Originally printed in 1977, the updated version is from 2000.

The contender: Nomadic, sporatic, and a little hyper. Job searching, learning to embrace God's grace, fickle about my hair. Here are some things I am not: short, fat, blond.

I received the book as a Christmas gift after coveting the worn-out (read: spine disintegrated!) copy I found at Charlie's house on Vashon Island. The original Moosewood is pumped with cheese, eggs, and cream. Now, don't get me wrong, I love cheese, eggs and cream but I am looking forward to working with these lighter, amended recipes!

This blog has tapped into the vein of the Julie/Julia Project. I am hoping to complete many, if not all, of Mollie Katzen's recipes and write about them here. I don't necessarily have a timeline, however, as life can morph rapidly. Who knows where I will be one year from now? Therefore, I'll cook these at my own pace, setting a goal of at least one Moosewood recipe a week. I think it's an attainable goal.

Cooking is a hobby, a passion, a sport, an art, a stress-reducer, an endorphin-releaser, an all-around favorite thing for me. So, without further ado... here we go!
